Giving has been a long-standing tradition at Medtronic - one to which we have been committed since the company was founded in 1949. Over the years, we have contributed more than $400 million to communities throughout the world.
The Medtronic Foundation is Medtronic’s primary vehicle for making charitable donations. Our Mission is to improve the health of people and communities by focusing our resources in areas where we can make unique and positive contributions.
We give because we believe sharing our resources with our communities is the right thing to do. By working in partnership with our communities, we make our commitment real and help people enjoy healthy and productive lives. In all our efforts, programmes that serve socio-economically disadvantaged people continue to be our top priority.
In Europe, the Medtronic Foundation grant making is organised in four programmes:
The CommunityLinkgrant programme supports programmes in countries where Medtronic has a large employee population, in the areas of health, education and community welfare.
The HeartRescue grant programme supports sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) prevention and treatment efforts.
The MedLinkgrant programme breaks down barriers to quality health care by educating health professionals in regions with critical health needs.
The Foundation’s flagship programme in Europe, the Patient Link grant programme, was launched to address the needs of people with chronic diseases and conditions. The Patient Linkprogramme partners with national and international patient organisations that educate, support and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
Patient LinkProgramme Funding Priorities: Moving in partnership with our Patient Link organisations, we:
- Empower patients to become active partners in their health care, especially in the treatment of cardio-vascular diseases, pain, diabetes and movement disorders.
- Engage patients from cultural communities who have not had access to health information and health care.
- Provide support to patients through what can be difficult emotional times.
- Include partnerships and collaborations in the sponsorship of programmes.
